WHO ARE WE?

25 passionate teachers - 200 serious pupils

Founded in 2008, FBTC is an organisation offering nationally recognised French language courses aimed at French speaking children from year 1 through to year 12.

FBTC operates in Clapham, Balham and Battersea primary and secondary schools such as Belleville Academy, Honeywell Primary School, Eaton House School, Bolingbroke Academy, Henry Cavendish School. Lessons are taught in classrooms, after school hours once or twice a week.

Our mission is to teach French (and maths in French as an option from year 3 to year 6) to over 200 French speaking pupils enrolled this academic year. We use the CNED (Centre National d’Enseignement à Distance) system which allows pupils to gain a level of French writing equivalent to that of a pupil educated in France.

We teach children in small groups: maximum of seven, ensuring a very high level of teaching quality and interaction among the students.

Our team is made up of 25 passionate, dynamic and enthusiastic staff who teach conjugation, grammar, spelling, writing and French literary culture. Our teachers ensure a very high quality of schooling and student safety is always our highest priority with all staff receiving training.

In order to also promote a safe teaching environment for our pupils, FBTC employs teachers that have gone through a strict selection process and our recruitment policy includes all statutory checks including an Enhanced DBS (disclosure and barring service).

All our teachers are trained to a safeguarding level appropriate of safeguarding responsibilities and will get in touch with the designated safeguarding lead of the host school if any situation arise.

In the case of a teacher being absent, we ensure his/her replacement by a colleague in order to ensure lessons are not affected.

Following the sanitary crisis of 2020, we were able to continue all teaching uninterrupted via Zoom. As soon as the regulation will authorise us, we will be restarting our lessons in all the various primary and secondary schools in the local areas we operate it. We certainly look forward to it!
